You may have recently seen Year 9 featured twice in GT as they trained for and took part in Göteborgsvarvet.( the articles are in a frame outside Mr. potter's office). Eleven students completed the 5.1 km course and by doing so they won a prize of 10 000 SEK. This will go towards their end of year trip to Prague. A good team effort resulting in something to support the whole class. Thank you to Mr Jenkins for oganising the school's participation in this event.

Year 2 and 3 were out in the neighbourhood on Friday 7th May doing a litter pick. We had great fun as well as collecting many sacks of rubbish. Our efforts did not go unnoticed by the general public. One person approached the teachers to say ‘this is the best lesson you can give your children’.

Year 7 worked hard on Friday 5th March to put on a talent show for the younger pupils. The class showed terrific teamwork to organize sound, lighting, hosts, refreshments and prizes as well as re-organising the bamba and cleaning it at the end. There were acts from Infants to Year 6 performing all sorts of different skills such as singing, dancing, gymnastics, Diablo, piano, violin and electric guitar for an appreciative audience of parents and fellow students. The afternoon finished with two winners. Patrick from year 2 with his dazzling Diablo and Daniel from year 4 for his excellent piano playing. They were presented with trophies sponsored by SKF. Well done Year 7 and all that took part.

Year 4 took part in a handball tournament on Monday 1st March and won both of their games. This was a qualifying round and means that they go on to the finals of the competition. Good luck in the next phase.

The year 9s worked hard on Friday 5th February putting on a disco for the younger children while at the same time raising money for their end of year trip. There were fun things to eat and drink as well as games like musical statues, musical chairs, the limbo and prizes for the best dancers. There was also an exhibition of hip-hop dance from a group of year 9 students. The youngest classes came first followed by years 3 to 6. Year 9 got a hour to themselves at the end with the stereo. Thank you to the students for putting on this event for the younger children and also to the parents for all their work and time given in support.

The 27th January saw year two and three walk to Ruddalen for a session of ice skating. We picked a good day for Winter Sports as there was a snowstorm for most of the day. However the teachers and pupils braved the elements and the day was a great success. (The area around the school itself is a bit of an ice rink at present. Please be careful when moving around the site).

Many thanks to all of you that have given us positive feedback about the new website. We will be adding information in the coming weeks as we all familiarise ourselves with the new tools. We are particularly keen for parents to gain access through their log in. If you are not able to log in then please get in touch and we will work towards a solution. We also thank you in advance for your patience with any teething problems that we have.

We have recently taken delivery of five new machines for the woodwork room which have now been installed by Mr Wallin, Mr Borgman and Mr Ormsby. The children will start using them later once they are comfortable with the simpler woodworking tools. All woodwork classes are taught in small groups.

You may have read in the press that the financial situation affecting our school is also affecting all other schools, whether they are council schools, gymnasiums or parent run nurseries. Having taken in more pupils we have gone a long way to solving the problem presented to us in December. We also have the right to appeal and members of our board are working with Mr Potter on our appeal. Unfortunately it will be some time before this appeal is heard but we will keep you informed on our progress.

We have five new additions to the playground as of January, exercise machines donated by Medical Fitness AB. The machines can be used by many different age groups as the children just work against their own body weight. So far they are proving popular with the children for play and for exercise, which is a good combination. Thank you to Mr Jenkins for organizing this equipment.
