The English School at The English Church

On Friday 18th December The English School took over The English Church for our traditional Christmas service to end the term. As always the church was full with many standing at the back. Pupils from the senior school did readings and there were several musical performances including Junior choir, the recorders group and several guitar pieces. During the singing of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ there was a collection for a special needs school in Bethlehem set up by the Swedish charity Biblelands. More than 2200SEK was raised in the collection. Thank you to the Reverend Barbara Moss for hosting us, to all performers and to our musical directors Mr Garay and Mr Jacobson.

    Elevens val / Students Choice

During the last 4 days of Term 1, students from Years 6 to 9 had “Elevens val “ or Students Choice, where they could choose form a range of activities to spend their school day doing. The activities included challenging physical events, fashion, dance, music, robot model making, , woodwork, Christmas wreath making, cooking, and helping out in junior classes or in the school kitchen.
At the end of the 4 days of Students Choice, which was the last day of school before the Christmas holidays, students gathered in the dining room and were given a fruit drink and gingerbread cookies. They displayed the results of their work and there was a production which included a fashion show and dance performances. It is during activities such as these that we see more of the remarkable talent of the students in the school.
