Year 9 took a very active part in Bokmässan this year. They contributed to a project about space, submitting photos about what the term “space” means to them, and had their photos on display during the fair. The whole year group was also part of an audience for a seminar with the Swedish astronaut Markus Want, hosted by Swedish journalist Ebba Von Sydow. Some students also had a great time visiting the seminar with famous author Joyce Carol Oates. The students had a chance to meet the celebrities afterwards.

We continue to work with the environment and energy saving with our new choice of carpets (MiljömattanTM), LED lighting throughout the building, and the solar panels on the roof. So far this year, we have generated 110 000 kWh of electricity which goes a long way to meet our electricity needs.

Rugby players Axel, Charlie, Jack, and Arthur from Year 6 won the Under 12 USM in Vänersborg in September, with 5 wins and 1 draw! Rugby, badminton and others are popular sports for ESG students outside school.

Our congratulations to Oskar and Victoria in Year 9 who were successful with double gold in the summer with the optimist sailing team during a Nordic Championship in Denmark.

Our congratulations to Samanyu in Year 3, who earlier in the year took part in a World-Cube Association competition in Gothenburg. He competed with many older students and recorded some fantastic times.

We were impressed to hear that Frank in Year 7 took part in an international fencing competition in Poland during the summer. This place was secured when Frank won a national Swedish competition earlier this year.

Congratulations to Zephyrus in Year 2 who completed Cityvarvet and came 30th in the ‘under 15 boys’ section. This is particularly impressive because he was competing against people up to 6 years older than himself.

Our congratulations to Akshadha and Rama in Year 4 who after competing in Uppsala, are now Swedish badminton doubles champions in their age group. Furthermore, Rama came second in the singles competition, and Akshadha came third. Rama also scored a bronze in the mixed doubles.

Congratulations to Eric and Fatema in Year 9 who represented the school at the finals for the English section of the Language Olympics in Malmö. They did especially well as they had to compete with students from gymnasium, some of whom were three years older than them.

Our big congratulations to Aaron in Year 2 who had his artwork displayed at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris. This was part of an art exhibition called “One World One Future” which was sponsored by the UN World Food Program. We think this is a first for our school!
